ADOPTION OF AMENDMENTS TO THE CODE OF SAFETY FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE SHIPS (SPS
CODE)

THE
MARITIME SAFETY COMMITTEE,
RECALLING
Article 28(b) of the Convention on the International Maritime Organization concerning
the functions of the Committee,
RECALLING
ALSO resolution A.534(13), by which the Assembly, at its thirteenth session,
adopted the Code of Safety for Special Purpose Ships (SPS Code),
NOTING
that the Assembly authorized the Committee to amend the Code as may be
necessary,
HAVING
CONSIDERED, at its seventy-ninth session, amendments to the SPS Code proposed
by the Sub-Committee on Flag State Implementation, at its eleventh session,
which were approved by the Committee, at its seventy-eighth session,

ADOPTS amendments to the Code of Safety for Special Purpose Ships, as amended,
the text of which is set out in the Annex to the present resolution;
2.
DETERMINES that the said amendments should become effective on 1 July 2006.

APPENDIX.
FORM OF SAFETY CERTIFICATE FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE SHIPS
1.
In the form of the Special Purpose Ship Safety Certificate, the following new
section is inserted between the section commencing with the words "This
certificate is valid until" and the section commencing with the words
"Issued at":
